Hickory Point Firefighters assisted Argenta-Oreana fire district with a recent barn fire.Engine 435 and Aerial 438 responded with the aerial being used for outside extinguishment and overhaul.HP Fire Chief Josh Trendler is on the ladder behind two A-O firefighters. They were completing the overhaul.
Congratulations to Josh Trendler on his appointment as the new Fire Chief for the district. Other new appointments are Mark Ortmann, Captain, and Jeremy Clark and Ryan Scott, Lieutenants. All other officers were appointed to their previous positions in the fire department.
Hickory Point Fire Protection District has been in operation for 62 years. Within the ending of 2017, the District responded to 589 calls for service; the highest number since 1955.. Thank you to all of the fire department members for their response and service.
Hickory Point Firefighters want to thank Firefighter/EMT Kari Hastings for her professional service to the fire district. She is moving back to eastern Illinois.

Hickory Point KME Engine 431 has been sold to Waynesville Fire Protection District, Waynesville, Illinois. It had been on loan to them in September, 2016, and again in early 2017. Hickory Point EVI Rescue 437 has been sold to the Humboldt/Del Norte Hazardous Materials Response Authority, Eureka, California. Hickory Point Fire Protection District has put into service its new Ferrara MVP rescue pumper.After completing the installation of all equipment, E437 is now responding to calls.
Call volume is for 2016. That number of 587 is the highest for the fire district since it was founded.

Hickory Point Fire Protection District trustees have purchased a new MVP Rescue Pumper fromFerrara Fire Apparatus on a recommendation from its truck committee. A few modifications and new letteringwill be done with delivery between 30 and 60 days.

Hickory Point Fire Department provided support for the "Pounds of Pride" donation for the construction of a memorial to the victims of the World Trade Center attack on 9-11-01. Long Creek Fire was also represented. Donations were accepted at Coziahr Harley Davidson in Forsyth. A beam, from the WTCenter, will be installed at the memorial built near Lake Decatur.Hickory Point Lieutenant Mark Ortmann assists with the beam display.

To join as a volunteer firefighter, you can pick up an application at the fire station between 9 and 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. Fourteen is the minimum age for a Cadet member and eighteen for volunteers. Consideration is given to those who live within the original fire district boundaries beginning at Pershing Road on the south.
